The importance of… flexible fabric
The main purpose of checking rescue and/or safety equipment is to ensure that it is working properly in the event of an emergency. This is why the life raft must always be checked and updated, so that when it is used it is fully operational.
As well as checking the raft, checking the rest of the material is also essential:
The importance of a good flexible tissue is vital to ensure perfect inflation and to withstand the time necessary to be rescued.
To ensure the flexibility of our fabrics, it is not enough to use the best natural rubbers. We must inflate the raft at least once a year to check that, due to the change in temperature and vacuum packing, no wrinkles have appeared that could turn into cracks or holes. These can be fatal at such a delicate moment as launching the life raft for an evacuation.
