If you have always had doubts about the operation of the vacuum toilet, with these tips they will be resolved.
Start:
- Turn on the water supply inlet.
- Turn on electrical power to the system.
- Make sure all bottom valves and in-line check valves are in the correct operating position.
- Pump water into the system, depressing the pump pedal until water begins to flow into the vacuum pump, approximately 15 seconds.
- The vacuum pump will run for approximately 60 to 90 seconds until the system reaches the operating vacuum level and then will shut down.
System operation
A pedal adds water to the toilet bowl and controls the flushing and vacuuming action. This pedal opens a mechanical seal, allowing suction force to remove debris from the bowl while clean, rinsing water flows into the bowl. The vacuum carries the waste through a 25mm opening at the base of the toilet. The penetrating air fragments the waste as it passes through the opening in the base.
The waste is then transferred through the vacuum generator and into a holding tank, treatment device or directly off the ship. The vacuum system is controlled by a vacuum switch located on the outside of the vacuum generator tank. When the switch detects a drop in system vacuum, it automatically tells the pump to bring the vacuum level to the optimal operating state. This process is typically completed in less than two minutes.
Toilet operation
- To add water to the toilet before using, lift the toilet flush pedal until the desired water level is achieved. Generally, more water is required when removing solids.
- To flush the contents of the vacuum toilet, press the toilet flush pedal firmly down until the contents are flushed from the bowl. It is normal to feel a clicking sound when the vacuum seal is broken and evacuation action begins. Be sure to hold the lever down for three (3) seconds.
- Do not flush sanitary pads or other items that do not dissolve down the toilet. Do not attempt to flush facial tissue, waterproof paper, paper towels, or excessive amounts of toilet paper down the toilet.
The system VacuFlush® (vacuum toilet Dometic ) must be cleaned regularly to obtain maximum sanitary condition and operational efficiency. Clean the toilet bowl with a mild bathroom cleaner. Do not use chlorine solvents or caustic chemicals, such as drain cleaners, as these will damage sealing systems and pipes. Use the following procedure at least once a month if the system is used regularly, or before leaving the boat for extended periods of time.
Vacuum toilet cleaning
1. Fill the cup with water.
2.Add 1 cup of biodegradable laundry detergent.
3.Flush the toilet by pressing the pedal for two (2) minutes. Release the pedal to close the evacuation ball.
4.Pump out completely all contents of the holding tank or treatment device.
