Chapter II: Do you know why it is called B&G and when did it originate?

One of the first companies to create navigation instruments for ships was B&G . In February of 1955 It was when Major RN Gatehouse and Ronald Brookes produced the radio direction finding unit Heron .

– The company name and initials come from their surnames B&G 

Settling near Lymington on the south coast of England, the company remained in the town until 1992. In this year they moved to Romsey, near the city of Southampton.

For BROOKES & GATEHOUSE LTD, precision and accuracy have always been paramount, as has the constant technological evolution of its electronic navigation aids.

His involvement in the fastest sailing yachts, from the America's Cup to the Volvo Ocean Race around the world, has been one of the components of his success.

The first products were all navigation aids: Hermes radio direction finder, echo sounder Hecta  speedometers Hermes and Harrier and the first electronic compass: Hestia .
