Didac Costa, appointed B&G ambassador
Didac Costa's “One Planet One Ocean” will sail around the world equipped with the latest B&G technology.
B&G, a global leader in sailing electronics and instrumentation specialist, has signed a collaboration agreement with Barcelona-based sailor Didac Costa, through which he becomes a brand ambassador.
One of the most active ocean sailors of his generation, Didac Costa has achieved numerous nautical achievements over the past decade and will soon compete for the second time in the Vendée Globe.
“We are very proud to have Didac on our team of B&G ambassadors” comments Pascual Román, Country Manager of B&G Iberia. “In addition to his extensive experience as a sailor, at B&G we value his positive attitude and tenacity, as well as his involvement in various projects related to the environment and ocean protection.”
On board his Imoca 60 “One Planet One Ocean”, Didac has a state-of-the-art electronic system to compete at the highest level in the Vendée Globe: From the new radar Halo20+ , which thanks to its industry-leading 60 RPM operation offers a near real-time view at close range, up to the recently introduced Zeus3S , a chartplotter with an extraordinarily fast response time that will provide Didac with the information he needs when he needs it.
One Planet One Ocean is also fitted with a comprehensive H5000 instrument system, featuring race-specific features including polar tables for performance targets and 3D Motion correction for maximum wind data accuracy. In addition, her H5000 autopilot system is highly effective in the most demanding conditions and environments and is perfect for solo sailing.

“ I am delighted to be working with B&G and to have their technology to compete in a race as demanding as the Vendée Globe ,” said Didac Costa. “ Having a reliable and accurate source of data is key to success and I am looking forward to showing other sailors how I use electronics in my day-to-day life .”
In addition to competing in regattas around the world, Didac Costa is involved in numerous initiatives and projects related to the environment. The “One Planet One Ocean” is an ambassador of the IOC-UNESCO and, as such, aims to help protect the oceans.
Thanks to a sensor installed on board, Didac will participate in a long-range study of surface temperature and salinity and will be able to take measurements in the most remote waters on the planet. The data will be transmitted by satellite and the results will serve scientists to improve their knowledge of the regulatory function of the oceans in relation to climate and its changes. In addition, through its collaboration with the organization Plankton Planet, its IMOCA will become a base for collecting plankton samples, which will be analyzed upon its return and studied by scientists to better understand how these organisms live, how they are organized and how they adapt to changes in temperature and salinity caused by climate change.
