Useful tips from Dahlberg SA: Ultra-solvent Marine Toilet Paper
Most marine toilets flush with very little water (sometimes as little as ½ litre) compared to 6.06 litre, 13.25 litre or 20.82 litre toilets installed in homes.
Many household toilet papers contain adhesives (to stick the paper fibers together) that dissolve easily in household systems, but can quickly clog a marine system with little water volume.
Do these quick-dissolving papers really work?
The ability to quickly dispose of these papers can vary greatly from brand to brand.
SeaLand Rapid-DissolvingToilet Tissues,
Available in single and double-ply rolls, it is constantly tested to maintain its fast-dissolving properties. Both papers are made from 100% recycled paper and are biodegradable, thus minimising environmental impact with optimal performance.
Take the “Paper Test” Yourself
Place a square sample of paper into a glass of water. Stir for five seconds. If the tissue of the paper breaks up into numerous small pieces, it will probably work fine in your marine toilet system. If not, it could clog your flush lines or form paper “balls” in your storage tank.
